At the beginning of March, we focused the service on the cross. We heard a story about three trees who all desired to become great things…. A wooden treasure chest holding the world’s greatest treasure, a magnificent ship fit only to carry the king of all kings and for the third tree, a desire to be the tallest and most memorable tree on earth, the one tree who was closest to God. The story is told in full below so you can read for yourself what happened to each of the trees.
As I listened to this story being read at Open Door, I began to understand that although I have dreams and aspirations, they may not be what God has planned for me, but by keeping an open heart, I can be guided by Him. Open Door itself is actually a fantastic example of this… I used to attend the service and marvel at how brave the ladies were who ran it when they stood up in front of everyone each week and delivered their talks. They were so heartfelt and the worship songs made me feel positive and I always came away feeling spiritually lifted. Gradually I have become more involved and have since stood at the front myself, addressing the people who came to the service. This is something I never dreamed I was capable of but I know God is by my side, helping me through my nerves and giving me the courage to do His will.
If you haven’t ever been to an Open Door service, or haven't been for a while, why not come along and see what everyone is talking about? Or if you have any questions, please call one of us for a chat. We have coffee and bacon butties after the service too, so you don’t even need to have breakfast first! We would love to see you.
