Solar Panels
You may have noticed that solar panels have been installed on the
Parish Office roof. The council have worked closely with the
environment department of Bracknell Forest Council and the
Green Energy Doctor Company to take advantage of energy
savings and income derived from the Feed In Tariff and Export
Tariff generation arrangements.
The Council were able to arrange the installation, commissioning,
certification, payment and registration of the units before the
reduction in the Feed In Tariff on 12 December 2011.
The Council will receive a payment of 43.3p per Kilowatt hour
for all the energy produced by the panels. This payment lasts for
25 years and is indexed to the RPI increase each year. In addition
an Export Tariff payment of 3.1p per Kilowatt hour is received
for 50% of the electricity bill for the parish office. This payment
is based on an overall assumption applied nationally but when a
smart meter is installed the payment will be based on the actual
readings. A third benefit arises from the reduced electricity
consumption of the building.
The Council expect to cover the capital cost within 7 years, at a
rate of return far in excess of that available from banks and
building societies.
If you would like more information about solar panels and the
schemes that are available please contact Hazel Hill at Bracknell
Forest Council, Environment department (01344 352536) or the
Green Energy Company at
